September 29, 2011 - COUNCIL DECISION 2011/641/CFSP of 29 September 2011 amending Decision 2010/573/CFSP concerning restrictive measures against the leadership of the Transnistrian region of the Republic of Moldova

Decision 2010/573/CFSP is hereby amended as follows:

(1) Article 4(2) is replaced by the following: ‘2. This Decision shall apply until 30 September 2012. It shall be kept under constant review. It may be renewed or amended, as appropriate, if the Council deems that its objectives have not been met.’;

(2) Article 4(3) is replaced by the following: ‘3. The restrictive measures provided for in this Decision shall be suspended until 31 March 2012. At the end of that period, the Council shall review the restrictive measures.’.

February 22, 2010 - COUNCIL DECISION 2010/105/CFSP extending (12 months) restrictive measures against the leadership of the Transnistrian region of the Republic of Moldova.


Restrictions on admission of persons responsible for preventing progress in arriving at a political settlement of the Transnistrian conflict; persons responsible for the campaign against Latin-script schools in the Transnistrian region - Valid from 27.2.2008 until 27.2.2009

September 23, 2011 - Resumption of Official 5+2 Negotiations on Transnistria

The United States welcomes the resumption of official 5+2 negotiations to find a settlement to the Transnistrian conflict. Agreement was reached on September 22 to restart negotiations by the parties to the conflict together with the other 5+2 participants: the OSCE, the European Union, Russia, Ukraine and the United States. The United States supports the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova and on that basis supports 5+2 negotiations to find a comprehensive settlement that will provide a special status for Transnistria within Moldova. April 15, 2011 - The U.S. Department of Treasury’s agency tasked with policing money laundering issued an advisor on April 15, 2011 warning banks and other financial institutions about transactions coming from the region of Transnistria in Moldova.
